Introduction
World Environment Day is a day to give back to the earth. The World Environment Day is celebrated every year on the 5th of June. I absolutely love the nature, for me, giving back means alot. We use resources like fuel, wood, and water everyday without compromise. Hence, it is our duty to nurture the planet the same way it nurtures us.
My Tribute to The World Environment Day

History
The World Environment Day is being celebrated since 1973. It recognised the United Nation's Conference on the Human Environment held in Stockholm, Sweden. Since then, it has become a milestone for improving the environment. UNEP assigns a different country and environmental theme each year for the celebration. It now includes over 150 countries and various ranges of interest from biodiversity protection to tree plantation drives.
This years host: The Republic of Korea
This year, The Republic of Korea is hosting the celebration. The theme assigned is 'Beat Plastic Pollution'. It builds awareness on issues of microplastics, plastic pollution and raising collective awareness.
‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Campaign in India
On the occasion of The World Environment Day, this campaign has been further emphasised. The government targets to plant three fifty million trees in the state of Uttar Pradesh alone starting from today within the next twelve months.
